Wellesley Hills, MA, April 17, 2007 – Accor Services USA, a leader in innovative employee benefits solutions and premier
provider of national commuter benefit programs, announced today that Commuter Check® vouchers are now accepted
at NY Waterway. Commuters can redeem Commuter Check vouchers to pay for NY Waterway commuter ferry tickets at all NY Waterway and BillyBey Ferry Company terminals in New Jersey and New York.
More than 15,000 people rely on NY Waterway to commute between New Jersey and Manhattan each day. As employers in New York City increasingly offer transit benefits, it is important for the vouchers to be redeemable for all types of public transportation.
“In keeping with NY Waterway’s 20-year tradition of service to our customers, we are pleased to accept Commuter Check vouchers,” said NY Waterway President and Founder Arthur E. Imperatore. “ From a broader perspective, encouraging the use of public transportation is a benefit to us all. We certainly share this mission and this mindset with Commuter Check and with an increasing number of environmentally conscious employers.”
Commuter Check vouchers launched in NYC in December 2006 and are now accepted at retail outlets including Hudson News, Pay-O-Matic and Metro News to pay for MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Metro-North Railroad, PATH, NJTRANSIT, MTA NYC Transit MetroCard®, NY Waterway and parking.
About NY WaterwayUp through the 1800’s, ferries were the only way to get to and around Manhattan. As bridges and tunnels were built, ferry transportation faded. In 1986, Arthur E. Imperatore and his family rejuvenated the NY Harbor with the launch of the first NY Waterway boat. Since then, NY Waterway has carried over 65 million passengers. NY Waterway has the largest ferry and excursion fleet in the NY Harbor, but it is still a family business with all the personal attention to service and amenities that it had when it was just Arthur’s ferry. You are treated like family from the moment you step into our terminal. Some people say a NY Waterway cruise is the friendliest experience they have had in New York. We say “welcome aboard!”
